It's Okay To Be Depressed

Episode Summary

Mental health is one of the main factors of a happy life. But students in college tend to suffer from depression and other mental disorders more than other people. Student life has always been accompanied by overwhelming moments, most of which became a reason for their declining mental health. Almost every other student suffered from anxiety attacks and depression peaks. With winter coming, bringing cold and dark weather and after years of COVID, some students developed PTSD syndrome. More and more people try to get psychological help, incapable of coping with their troubles themselves. According to Fanshawe Counseling Services Coordinator Shirley Porter, the average wait time in a clinic is from one to two months. Students come devastated and almost desperate about the problems they have to encounter. The other speaker is a student of Masters Program of Counseling and Psychology Izabella Antonowicz, who has an opinion as a student and greatly contributes to the opening of the topic from students perspective. She understands how hard it is to combine two different lives- student and personal in good shape and that it can lead to mental troubles.
